Why Choose Asphalt?

Asphalt driveways are more common in the New England area than concrete and tend to resist the freezing and thawing cycles we encounter each winter. Asphalt tends to be more pliable due to the oil-based product which helps the driveway to adjust to the ever-changing temperatures. The deep tone of asphalt absorbs the warmth from the sun during the colder winter months to aid in melting snow and ice much quicker than other driveway applications.

Asphalt tends to be less expensive, less maintenance, more durable, and easily plowed of snow and ice compared to other driveway applications. If asphalt is properly maintained, it can last upwards to 25 years. Our paving applications for asphalt consist of the following three layers: 

• First layer installed is a sub-base material that builds the base and the stability of the driveway.
• Second layer applied to the driveway is a hot binder mix asphalt which is produced with large stones to add more stability to the base layer.
• Third layer is the hot top mix asphalt which is made up of a smaller stone and completes the asphalt driveway.
